Begoña Toledo (Born 1982 in Zaragoza, Spain) grew up in a highly creative environment, with several members of her family being professional artists. Her first inspirations came from her mother’s delightful taste in decoration and crafts and her vast collection of miniature boxes, Mafalda comics, crafts and art books as well as her father’s technical drawings. She focused all her student years in art specialising in painting on her early bachelor years and deviating into a more conceptual and social approach to art practice inspired by The Situationist. After finishing her bachelor in Utrecht and being selected as part of the top ten students of her generation by the University of Barcelona she started her professional career in Amsterdam, where she lived for 5 years. It was while in the Dutch city that Toledo started her street artist career as “Boxhead”. Making art in the streets can be understood as a natural progression in her career, combining her strong interests in urbanism and her passion for painting and visual art. Begoña Toledo now lives and works in London, she has exhibited her studio work internationally and continues to create big scale murals all over the world.
