Collection: Jack Byers

An interdisciplinary visual artist exploring contemporary communication through the use of type and image across a wide range of scales and media. Raised in a small New York town, he became intrigued with the fading letters of hand-painted signs during visits to a nearby industrial city. These partially formed advertisements from a different time became the jumping off point for an ongoing investigation into the power of abstraction in text-based art and messaging. This led to a concurrent interest in commercial illustration as means of visual communication. These two disciplines form the basis for JKB’s work.
