Kicking it all off is Glasgow based artist Hannah Wilson. We’ve featured Hannah’s fleshy females in our previous group exhibitions, however we’re very excited to showcase her paintings with our full attention this time.
"The show title Repeat Viewer refers to my tendency to watch films obsessively, returning to specific moments over and over. Moments that strike me, and I can’t stop thinking about until I finally paint them. The act of painting is my attempt to nurture this feeling, the feeling which holds me, one linked to ideas of yearning and loss.
I’m interested in how these works can be considered as something other than purely representational. Do they represent the film-still traditionally, as an image, or am I translating this deeply personal experience to the viewer? This exhibition is the first time these new works will be shown together, the culmination of a period spent trying to catch this feeling"
